T G I F

This week has seemed so incredibly long.  Work has been a little slow which has made my time there drag on for what seems like forever.  The past five days have felt like ten.  It kills me that time moves so slowly while I’m there, but outside of work it flies by.  Luckily I’m not the only one that felt like the days have been dragging.  My coworkers have been feeling the same way.  I really do love my job, but on weeks like this misery loves company.  At least we are all in this together. :)

As per usual, I’m looking forward to the weekend.  My husband and I have a pretty low key weekend ahead of us which will be nice.  It seems as though we have been so busy lately.  On Saturday, I have a bridesmaid's dress fitting for my best friend's wedding that's in December.  I'm looking forward to seeing how my dress will actually fit once all of the alterations are done.  Right now it's a little big.  Here's a picture of the dress I'll be wearing on her big day:

I really like the style of the dress, and I think it will be super cute to wear again once it's shortened to knee length.

My husband and I are planning on spending the rest of the day shopping.  He's in need of some new tennis shoes, and I'm not really "in need" of anything, but I never say no to shopping.  There are a few stores that I'm hoping to pop into and check out their fall/early winter selections.  If I find anything good, I'll be sure to share! :)

The rest of our weekend will include football (my hubby), housework (me), and maybe a movie.  I'm itching to see Gravity.  I've heard it's received great reviews from the critics along with some of our friends.

Have you seen any good movies lately?  Please feel free to share your recommendations below!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Who Are You? Who, Who, Who, Who!

Happy Wednesday everyone!

As I was sitting here trying to decide what my first "real" blog post would be about, it dawned on me that I should tell you a little bit about myself!  It's my hope to do random facts posts occasionally to help you get to know me a little better over time.

So let's jump right into it!

- I'm in my mid twenties and live in the Midwest with my husband and our two fur babies, Penny and Lily.
- My husband and I are big fans of both The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother.  When we adopted our kitties from the Humane Society, we couldn't help but name them after two of our favorite characters, Penny and Lily.
- I'm a former English teacher.  After graduating college I was lucky enough to find a long-term substitute position for a teach who was taking a sabbatical to teach over in Italy for a year.  Unfortunately he didn't love it enough to stay, so I was let go at the end of the school year.  Another long-term sub position and a bunch of short-term (day to day) sub jobs later, I was craving stability in the work place, and teaching wasn't cutting it.  The job market for teachers in my home state is quite depressing.  There are hundreds of qualified recent graduates out there looking for jobs, but schools aren't hiring, and the old teachers aren't retiring.  So after much thought I decided to look for employment outside of teaching.  I'm currently working as an Administrative Assistant and loving it (most days).  It plays into my strong suits of being an organized, multi-tasking people person.
- My husband and I met each other through friends when I was going into my senior year of college (my husband was going into his junior year).  I'm a cougar, I know. ;-)
- I'm an only child.  This allowed me to form close relationships with both of my parents.  My mom and dad are two of the best people I know, and I consider them to be friends as well as parents.
- My husband lives and breaths for football season (okay, that may be a little exaggerated, but it sure seems like it from my vantage point :)), so I like to spend my Sundays running shopping errands with my mom.  Yay Costco!
- I absolutely love to travel.  If I had the option to go on a trip every couple months I would go in a heartbeat.  Some of my favorite travel destinations have been Hawaii, St. Maartin, St. Thomas, Grand Cayman, Labadee, Cozumel, Ft. Myers Beach, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Memphis just to name a few.
- I am a warm weather girl, but I have to admit that I've started loving fall in recent years.  The leaves changing is such a beautiful site, and the crisp weather makes me want to light candles and cozy up on the couch with my husband and kitties.
- I'm a Pretty Little Liars fan, and I'm not embarrassed to shout it from the roof tops.  I decided to watch the show because it 1) looked like it could be interesting and 2) was something my students would probably watch, and I wanted to be somewhat in the loop as far as what was popular in TV (other than Jersey Shore).  After I began watching the show I was hooked, and I have since read almost the entire book series.  I'm looking forward to the Halloween episode in two weeks!
- I really want to get into baking cake pops.  Something about them is so much fun, and they are great treats for parties, showers, and other get togethers.  I have a whole cake pop set ready to go at home, but I haven't had the time to embark on my cake pop making journey yet.  I'm hoping to get started in the next week or two.  Wish me luck!

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful rest of your day!
